Course Outline

The Cat ® C175 Diesel Engine Training Course is intended for Cat Dealer Service Technicians, Service Training Instructors, Technical Communicators and Customer Technicians who have a basic knowledge and experience of the topic. Participants should also possess at least basic English language (oral and written) skills. This course focuses on a comprehensive overview of engine operation with a detailed look at all engine systems including air intake & exhaust, lubrication, cooling and fuel.

Pre-requisites

  1. Experience with diesel engines
  2. Basic electrical knowledge 
  3. Understands English

 

Course Objectives

1. Familiarize with electronic sensors and engine components.
2. Able to describe the operations of the Cat® C175 Common Rail Injector Fuel system and other engine systems.
3. Able to perform daily checks and maintenance in accordance with the Operations and Maintenance Manual.
4. Able to explain and perform Valve Clearance, Injector Height Setting and Timing checks
5. Familiarise with fault codes to perform basic troubleshoot.

  1. Cooling system - Jacket water flow
  2. Separate circuit aftercooler flow
  3. Lubrication system – Lubrication flow
  4. Location of related sensors
  5. Engine management system;
  6. temperature control module, TCM and prelubrication pump

Day 4
  1. Fuel system – fuel flow
  2. Location of related sensors
  3. Engine management system – fuel control module
